The traditional form of Rajasthan puppet theatre is popular as Kathputli. A makeshift stage is erected, puppets are strung on the stage and stories are re-enacted by the puppeteers. Puppets are made to twirl and move frenetically to the notes of a playing dholak and a singer.
The major towns and cities of Rajasthan offer a glimpse of the cultural performances in its museums or folk art centers. Most hotels on request put up a variety of entertaining shows performed by the local talent.
